This 3-hour snorkeling tour in La Paz, Mexico, offers the chance to swim near whale sharks in a small group limited to 10 people. An expert marine biologist leads each tour, providing information about the whale sharks you encounter. The tour includes wetsuits, snorkeling gear, snacks, bottled water, underwater photos and videos, all fees and taxes, and a bracelet. The focus on small groups allows for a more personal experience with these large fish in their natural environment.
Boat Ride to Whale Shark Refuge
A marine biologist leads a small group on a boat from the marina to the Whale Shark refuge. During the trip, participants receive a safety briefing and learn the rules designed to protect the animals. After putting on wetsuits and snorkeling gear, they enter the water for a close encounter with the whale sharks. Certified captains and guides oversee the experience to maintain safety and respect. Only 14 boats operate per turn, with four daily turns at 7 am, 9 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm. Morning turns require spot requests via WhatsApp the day before at 3 pm, assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. If a morning slot is unavailable, a spot for the 12 pm or 2 pm turn is requested the next morning, with notification of the assigned turn.
