Overview
This tour is designed for travelers with limited time who want to visit Machu Picchu in one day without overnight stays. It begins early in Cusco with a hotel pickup by minibus around 4:00 am. The group travels to Ollantaytambo train station, where the 6:10 am train departs for Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu village. The train ride lasts about an hour and a half and passes through the Sacred Valley, following the Urubamba River while crossing cloud forest and high jungle zones. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, participants take a bus up to the Machu Picchu archaeological park. A professional guide leads a two-hour tour explaining key sites such as the Temple of the Three Windows and the Sun Gate viewpoint. After the guided portion, there is free time until about 1:00 pm for independent exploration of the citadel. The group then returns by bus to Aguas Calientes, where there is time for lunch at local restaurants (meals not included). The return train to Ollantaytambo departs in the afternoon, followed by a minibus ride back to Cusco. Arrival in Cusco is usually between 8:30 pm and 10:00 pm, depending on train schedules. The tour includes all transport, entry tickets, and a multilingual guide, with options for small group or private tours.
