Overview

This two-hour kayaking encounter takes place in the manatees' preferred resting areas within the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge near Cocoa Beach. Participants paddle gently on the water while spending time close to endangered manatees, which may nuzzle or hold onto the kayak. A professional guide helps observe the manatees carefully to avoid disturbing their natural behavior. After the time with the manatees, the tour continues with a search for dolphins often seen fishing nearby. Throughout the tour, other local wildlife such as pelicans, osprey, roseate spoonbills, horseshoe crabs, and occasionally alligators can be spotted. The tour includes all kayaking equipment, a personal flotation device, paddle, and the guide. Gratuities are not included. Participants are advised to bring clothes that can get wet, water shoes, an extra change of clothes, bottled water, and snacks. A camera and dry bag are optional. A safety light is provided, though participants may bring a flashlight if preferred.
