Overview

This walking tour lasts about two hours and is led by a local English-speaking guide in a small group of up to 14 people. It focuses on Montmartre’s less visited streets, starting opposite the Moulin Rouge. The route climbs the hill past notable sites including the café from the film Amélie and Van Gogh’s former home. Early on, the group visits a highly regarded bakery to taste a butter croissant. The tour continues to the Le Mur des Je t’aime wall, where visitors learn about the phrase “je t’aime” in 250 languages and hear stories of local artists like Picasso who lived in the area. The walk passes one of Paris’s last windmills and the main Montmartre avenue with luxury homes. A hidden passageway then leads to a quiet cobbled street with a notable view of Paris. Next, the group visits the last remaining vineyard in Paris near the top of the hill, opposite the Cabaret Au Lapin Agile, where a local legend about a painting donkey is shared. The final stop is at the Sacré-Coeur Basilica, viewed from a less common vantage point, followed by another city panorama. Throughout the tour, the guide provides tips on other sights, activities, and food options in Paris. The route covers about 2 kilometers at a relaxed pace and includes tasting one of Paris’s best butter croissants. Additional food, drinks, gratuities, and the Moulin Rouge show are not included.
