Overview

This motorized tour in Monument Valley lasts about two and a half hours and is led by a certified Navajo guide. The guide will take participants across 28 miles of Monument Valley’s backcountry, including areas not accessible to most visitors. The route includes stops at landmarks such as the West and East Mitten, John Ford's Point, Big Hogan Arch, Moccasin Arch, Sun's Eye, Anasazi petroglyphs and ruins, the Totem Pole Monument, and either North Window or Artist's Point. The guide will share stories and performances related to these natural features and their cultural significance. Pick-up and drop-off are available for guests staying at the KOA campground (with advance arrangement for departure time) and at The View Hotel lobby area. Admission fees are not included. The tour does not include the Hogan visit or Navajo rug weaving demonstration, which is offered on the extended backcountry tour.

The tour stops at several scenic locations within Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. These include the West and East Mitten views, John Ford's Point, Big Hogan Arch and Moccasin Arch where live performances take place, Sun's Eye and Anasazi petroglyphs and ruins, the Totem Pole Monument, and either North Window or Artist's Point.
