Overview

This full-day bus tour from Tokyo lasts about twelve and a half hours and includes visits to Mt Fuji 5th Station, a cruise on Lake Ashinoko, and a Japanese drum show. The tour begins with a trip to Mt Fuji, Japan's highest peak, reaching the 5th Station at 2,300 meters above sea level via the Subaru Line or the highest accessible point if the Subaru Line is closed. If weather or road conditions prevent access or views at Mt Fuji, the tour will visit alternative nearby facilities instead. After Mt Fuji, the bus travels to Hakone. There, participants take a fifteen-minute cruise on Lake Ashinoko aboard the Sorakaze ship, which offers views of the lake and surrounding landscapes including Mt Fuji. Next, the tour continues with a fifty-minute ride on the Hakone Komagatake Ropeway cable car up to the Komagatake mountaintop near Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya. From the top, there are views over Lake Ashi and Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. The tour includes round-trip travel by an air-conditioned bus and is accompanied by a National Government Licensed English Guide Interpreter who provides explanations about the area's history and nature. Admission fees for all included sites are covered. Lunch is optional and must be selected when booking. When included, lunch is a Japanese-style meal served with tea or coffee. Vegetarian, Muslim-friendly, and Indian Thali meal options can be requested in advance. During lunch, a Japanese drum (Wadaiko) performance by the Social Welfare Corporation Fugakukai is usually presented, except between May 25 and June 20, 2026, when the performance and regular lunch options are suspended and alternative arrangements are made. If lunch is not included, participants should bring their own meal as there are no dining facilities nearby. The tour returns to Shinjuku Station between six and nine in the evening. If weather or road conditions prevent visiting any of the main sites or using the cruise or ropeway, alternative facilities will be visited instead. The tour will not be canceled and no refunds are given for such changes.

Mount Fuji

The bus approaches the base of Mt Fuji. If the Fuji Subaru Line is closed or weather conditions prevent views from the 4th and 5th Stations, the tour visits an alternative nearby facility.

Mt. Fuji 5th Station

The bus ascends to the 5th Station along the Subaru Line, located at 2,300 meters (7,546 feet) above sea level. This stop offers elevated views above the clouds. If the Subaru Line is closed or weather blocks views, the tour redirects to an alternative location.

Lunch Break and Japanese Drum Performance

Lunch is provided only for those who selected the with lunch option. The meal is Japanese-style with tea or coffee, with vegetarian, Muslim-friendly, and Indian Thali options available upon request. During lunch, a Wadaiko (Japanese drum) performance by the Social Welfare Corporation Fugakukai is presented, except during May 25 to June 20, 2026, when the venue and menu change and the performance is suspended. Those without lunch must bring their own meal as no nearby dining options are available.

Lake Ashinoko

Passengers board the Sorakaze cruise ship for a 15-minute ride on Lake Ashi in Hakone. The cruise offers views of the lake and surrounding scenery including Mt Fuji. If the cruise is canceled due to weather or access issues, an alternative facility is visited.

Hakone Komagatake Ropeway

The tour includes a 50-minute cable car ride up to the Komagatake mountaintop near Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya. Views of Lake Ashi and the national park are visible from the ropeway. If the ropeway is closed due to weather or access problems, an alternative facility will be visited.

This is a disembarkation point. The bus stops here only if customers have pre-booked the Odawara drop-off option.

Return to Shinjuku Station

The tour ends with arrival at Shinjuku Station between 6pm and 9pm. Guests must make their own onward travel arrangements from there.

The departure and arrival times, as well as the duration at each destination shown on the itinerary, are approximate. The sequence of activities and arrival times may vary due to traffic and conditions at the stops.
Mt. Fuji may not be visible from the base because of weather, but the tour will continue as scheduled and no refunds will be given for this reason.
Typically, the 5th Station is accessible from late April through November; however, the Fuji Subaru Line closes in winter from about December to early April due to snow and icy roads.
If the Fuji Subaru Line is closed or if poor weather prevents views from Mt. Fuji 4th and 5th Stations, the tour will visit alternative locations such as Fujisan Museum, Lake Kawaguchi Oishi Park, Fujisan World Heritage Center, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, or Oshino Hakkai.
If the Lake Ashi Cruise and Komagatake Ropeway are not operating due to weather, or if road or congestion issues prevent stops, the tour will visit alternative sites including Appare Sightseeing Boat on Lake Kawaguchi, Swan Lake Cruise Ship on Lake Yamanaka, Hakone Pirate Ship, Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, Hakone Ropeway, Hakone Jukkokutoge Panoramic Cable Car, Itchiku Kubota Art Museum, Fujiyama Museum, Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone-en Aquarium, Ninja Bus, Oshino Shinobi no Sato, Hakone Checkpoint, Odawara Castle, Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine, Higashiguchi Hongu Sengen Shrine, Oshino Hakkai, Hakone Shrine, Hakone Sekisho Tabimonogatarikan (shop), or Owakudani. The tour will not be canceled and no refunds will be issued for these changes.
Reservations will be canceled if customers arrive after the departure time. It is advised to allow sufficient time to arrive promptly.
Children aged 5 and under may join without charge but will not be provided with bus seats or lunch. If seats or lunch are needed, a child ticket must be purchased.
When booking the Lunch option, customers must specify the number requesting Vegetarian meals, Muslim-friendly meals, or Indian Thali meals.
Vegetarian meals exclude meat and fish.
Muslim-friendly meals exclude pork and alcohol but are not halal certified.
Indian Thali meals are vegetarian and exclude meat and fish.
Meals catering to allergies or gluten-free requirements are not available. Customers with allergies or needing gluten-free meals should book the tour without lunch.
The No Lunch option does not include meals. Customers should bring their own lunch as there are no dining facilities near the lunch break area. It is recommended to prepare lunch before departure.
During the lunch break, a Wadaiko (Japanese drum) performance by the Social Welfare Corporation Fugakukai may be presented. The performance might not be seen if arrival is significantly delayed or if the tour cannot reach the break area. The performance may also be canceled without notice due to facility circumstances. From May 25th to June 20th, 2026, the lunch venue will change and the Wadaiko performance will be suspended. No refunds will be given for this period.
Multilingual GPS audio guides in Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Thai, and French are available only for Shinjuku departures. Requests must be made at booking in the "Special requirement" field. Same-day requests cannot be accepted. Audio guides are limited and may not be available for all participants. No refunds will be issued if guides fail due to signal, device, Wi-Fi, or itinerary changes.
Depending on the number of participants, transportation may be a mid-size bus, small bus, hired car, or other vehicle instead of a large bus.
Because some locations visited, such as Mt. Fuji 5th Station, have lower temperatures than Tokyo, warm clothing is recommended. Temperatures may drop to 14℃ in summer daytime and -5℃ in winter.
Written parental permission is required for all participants under eighteen. Those under fifteen or not yet in middle school must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the tour.
This tour includes a carbon offset component where part of the booking fee supports renewable energy projects. By offsetting CO2 emissions generated during the tour with green energy, it contributes to environmental protection efforts.
