This seven-hour Northern Lights chase takes place in Tromso, Norway, above the Arctic Circle. The tour is led by a small family-run business that shares authentic North Norwegian coastal culture and traditions passed down through generations. Participants will travel to locations chosen to increase the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. Along the way, the guides provide stories about local coastal life and history from their own perspective, adding a charming personal touch to the experience. The tour includes warm overalls to keep guests comfortable outdoors. A small illustrated leaflet about Tromso’s history is provided, along with a video explaining the Northern Lights from both scientific and mythological viewpoints. Refreshments are offered, with a choice of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or broth, accompanied by cake. A tripod is supplied for photography, and each participant receives a photo taken of themselves with the Northern Lights. Winter boots are not included, so guests should bring their own if needed. The tour operates in all weather conditions and is not available for children under five years old.

Itinerary
We pick you up in Tromsø and take you by minibus on a chase for the magical Northern lights. With the best local knowledge we will find the best area for the lights and good scenery for your pictures. To find a clear sky we will drive where we have to, even to Finland if needed. Our family ran company, Tromsø Friluftsenter, focus on small groups that gives the personal touch. Since 2004 we have given our guests adventures from our hearts. During the evening your guide will show you a movie and tell you information about the Northern lights, both the science and the folklore. We will also help you to adjust your camera settings for pictures of the northern lights, and take pictures of you with the lights for you to take home to show your family and friends. (Available for download in original size from our Flickr account). We may also visit our lavvu (our modern Sami shelter) and sit around the nice warm bonfire.(If we are within reasonable driving distance from our base camp). Occasionally the chance of a clear sky is low, and in that case we will advise you before the excursion starts to get your money refunded instead. We recommend to book more than one day during high season!
