Overview

This full-day ATV tour lasts about eight hours and includes a guide, snacks, and bottled water. The tour begins at the company office in Antigua at 8:30 AM with transportation to San Vicente Pacaya. The ATV portion starts around 10 AM from San Vicente. Participants ride through off-road trails around Pacaya Volcano, one of Guatemala's most active volcanoes at roughly 2,500 meters high. The route passes wet forests, volcanic sand, lava fields inside a private plantation, and villages at the volcano's base. Riders can hike partway up the volcano on petrified lava flows as far as they are able. The tour offers views of Calderas Lagoon and three other volcanoes: Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango. The group does not enter San Vicente Pacaya National Park. After about five hours on the ATVs, the tour returns to the San Vicente office, then travels back to Antigua, ending there. The return drive usually takes about an hour depending on traffic. Snacks provided include water, Gatorade, chocolate, cookies, chips, and a sandwich. No pickups are available in Antigua; the tour starts at the operator’s office.
