This full-day small group tour lasts about eight hours and begins with a two-hour guided visit to the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. An archaeologist leads the group through the main highlights of the ancient city, including the Forum, Via dell’Abbondanza, the granary with casts of eruption victims, the house of Menander, Stabian Baths, the Lupanar brothel, the house of Faun, Odeon Teatro Piccolo, and the main theater. In the afternoon, a licensed hiking guide accompanies the group on a minibus ride from Pompeii to Mount Vesuvius. After arriving at the entrance, participants hike for approximately 30 minutes on a steep path to reach the volcano’s crater. Visitors can look inside the still-active crater and observe views over the Bay of Naples, Capri, Ischia, and the Sorrento coast. Closed-in shoes are necessary for this part of the tour. The tour includes round-trip transportation by modern minibus for up to 14 people, admission fees for Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius, and guidance by both an archaeologist and a hiking guide. After the hike, the group returns to Pompeii, where the tour ends. Food and drinks are not included.
