This private Pompeii Vineyard Escape lasts about two hours at the 4-hectare Bosco de' Medici Winery near the Pompeii archaeological site. The tour starts with a 15-minute guided walk through the experimental vineyard, where Piedirosso, Aglianico, Caprettone, and Falanghina grape varieties are grown. The guide then leads visitors to several historical structures on the property, including a section of the Pompeii archaeological site, a Bourbon-era irrigation channel built by the former kings of Naples, and the ruins of an 18th-century family villa. Underneath the villa is the original wine cellar where wine production began using terracotta amphorae underground. Next, the tour continues in the modern wine cellar, which contains stainless steel silos, wooden barrels, and terracotta amphorae used for aging wine. The experience ends with a private wine tasting paired with lunch and food tasting at the winery. The tour includes all tastings and lunch but does not include hotel pickup or drop-off unless this option is selected. Guests should inform the operator of any dietary requirements when booking.
