Overview

This snorkeling tour takes place at the Silfra Fissure in Thingvellir National Park near Reykjavik, Iceland. The total duration is about two and a half hours, including preparation and a snorkeling session lasting approximately 30 to 40 minutes. Participants snorkel in water between two tectonic plates, where the temperature ranges from 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. A private guide leads groups of up to six people. All necessary snorkeling equipment is provided, including a choice between a drysuit or a wetsuit. The drysuit keeps participants warm and buoyant but may feel tight around the neck and wrists, while the wetsuit allows more flexibility and the ability to dive underwater. An undergarment is included for use with the drysuit. Underwater photos are taken during the snorkeling and included in the tour price. Hot chocolate is served after the activity. The tour fee covers entry to Thingvellir National Park and the Silfra site. Transportation to the location and parking fees at Thingvellir are not included. Participants must be at least 12 years old, able to swim, communicate in English, and meet height, weight, and age requirements. Those over 65 need a physician’s approval. It is recommended to bring a change of clothes and wear thermal layers under the drysuit. Contact lenses or a prescription mask are advised instead of glasses. Medical forms must be completed before the tour, and all personal measurements provided to the operator in advance. Guides manage one group of six at a time, though up to three groups may be present simultaneously. Participants should eat breakfast before the tour and dress appropriately for the weather, avoiding heels or jeans.
