Overview

This six-and-a-half-hour tour starts in Queenstown and visits three Central Otago wine sub-regions: Gibbston, Bannockburn, and Cromwell. The tour begins with views of Lake Hayes and the Kawarau Suspension Bridge, where participants may see bungy jumpers. A 40-minute guided walk takes place through New Zealand’s largest underground wine cave. The tour includes wine tastings at four vineyards across the three sub-regions. In Bannockburn, there is a 30-minute wine tasting at a local vineyard. Lunch is served in Central Otago and features five gourmet dishes prepared by Wild Earth using retired French Oak Pinot Noir barrels. These dishes are paired with five Wild Earth wines during a one-hour food and wine matching experience. The tour continues to Cromwell for a 30-minute vineyard tasting and includes an optional 15-minute visit to historic Cromwell town, depending on time and weather. Returning to Gibbston, there is a 45-minute wine tasting paired with cheese. The final stop is a 30-minute visit to historic Arrowtown, where participants can explore the Chinese Settlement or walk along the main street. Transportation is provided by a luxury vehicle, and a knowledgeable wine guide offers commentary throughout. Snacks and lunch are included. The tour operates in all weather conditions, and participants are returned to their accommodation in Queenstown at the end of the day. Vegetarian options are available if advised at booking. Children aged six to seventeen years are welcome.
