by Time Tripper Queenstown
The Queenstown Time Tripper Underwater Observatory 30-Minute Animated Show takes place at Queenstown’s only underwater observatory beneath Lake Wakatipu. The experience lasts about 30 minutes and begins with a 14-minute animated show called Time Tripper. This film covers 90 million years of the region’s history, including the era of dinosaurs, the formation of New Zealand, the rise of the Southern Alps, and the glaciers that carved Lake Wakatipu. It also presents the Māori legend associated with the lake. After the film, visitors view live aquatic wildlife through large underwater windows in the observatory. They can see giant freshwater eels, rainbow trout, brown trout, Chinook salmon, and diving ducks in their natural environment. The visit includes access to the Queenstown Underwater Observatory and combines the historical animated show with live underwater wildlife viewing.
