Overview

This half-day rafting trip lasts about three hours on the Arkansas River near Cañon City, Colorado. The trip covers the section of the river that runs through the Royal Gorge, where canyon walls rise up to 1,000 feet. Participants check in at Echo Canyon River Expeditions, where they receive free use of wetsuits, splash jackets, and river shoes, as well as helmets and life jackets. Professional guides lead each raft through class III to V rapids. Transportation is provided from the rafting office to the river launch point and back. Guests should be physically fit, able to swim, and at least 14 to 18 years old depending on water levels. Swimwear, shorts, or synthetic clothing are recommended; cotton and flip-flops are not suitable. Before rafting, each participant must complete a liability release form, with those under 18 requiring a parent or guardian’s signature. After booking, guests will be contacted by phone to provide an email address for completing the release forms online. Tips and souvenir photos are not included.

Echo Canyon River Expeditions

Guests check in at the Echo Canyon office where staff provide safety equipment including life jackets and helmets. Professional guides accompany each raft. Transportation to and from the river access points is included. Preparation and safety instructions are given before the rafting trip.
