by Hmong Sister House and Trekking
This 2-day, 1-night tour in the Sapa mountains begins with a pickup at the bus station around 7 am. Guests are taken to Zizi’s homestay where they can leave their luggage, take a hot shower, and have breakfast before starting the trek. The hike starts from Hau Thao village and passes through several ethnic villages where visitors observe the daily life of Hmong minorities and see animals living alongside the villagers. After lunch prepared by the guide, the trail climbs through terraced rice paddies and forested areas with mountain views. The first day ends at the buffalo house, where Zizi’s mother, the Hmong sister, lives and where the family cares for their buffalo. Guests stay overnight in this traditional family house, share dinner with the family, and may taste local rice wine. On the second day, breakfast is served at sunrise before trekking down through morning rice fields where farmers work. The route continues to a Red Dao village, the second largest minority group in the area, where visitors can explore the village, meet locals, and visit a waterfall known for its picturesque setting. Homemade souvenirs are available for purchase from villagers. After crossing a suspension bridge in Supan village, where children play nearby, the group returns to Zizi’s homestay by late afternoon. The day concludes with a fresh beer and dinner featuring local dishes, including the chance to try well-known spring rolls. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included throughout the trek. The route follows a less-traveled path designed by Zizi and is guided in English by a local Hmong guide. The total duration is about 48 hours and the itinerary can be customized on request.
