Overview

This small-group sailing excursion in San Diego lasts three hours and takes place on a 40-foot luxury sailboat departing from Sail San Diego’s private marina in the Shelter Island area of Point Loma. The boat carries up to six passengers, providing a semi-private setting. During the cruise, the sailboat passes by the Point Loma lighthouses, Coronado Bridge, Coronado "North" Island, and the USS Midway Museum. Some trips may also sail past Seaport Village and the San Diego Convention Center, depending on the captain’s chosen route for the day. Guests can relax on deck and enjoy complimentary beer, soft drinks, and light snacks. Blankets are provided if it gets chilly, and sunscreen, hats, jackets, and sunglasses are available for purchase at check-in. Binoculars are onboard for viewing the coastline and wildlife, and passengers can stream their own music through the boat’s Bluetooth speakers. Departure times vary throughout the year, so guests must contact Sail San Diego after booking to confirm the exact time. A minimum of three passengers is required for the cruise to operate. If group members book separately, it is important to inform the operator in advance to ensure everyone is on the same boat. Captains do not provide a formal guided commentary but can answer questions during the sail.
