This four-hour small-group tour in Lihue, Kauai, takes participants to the Hule‘ia River area, which includes 241 acres of protected National Wildlife Refuge. The tour begins with a detailed safety briefing and a practice session led by certified instructors to prepare for rappelling. Participants will rappel down two waterfalls: first the 30-foot Bamboo Falls, followed by the 60-foot Papakolea Falls. Helmets, water shoes (tabis), and harnesses are provided. After rappelling, the tour concludes with a snack break overlooking the Hule‘ia Watershed and the Ha‘upu Mountain range. Snacks, access to a juice and water station, and a conservation fee supporting habitat restoration in the refuge are included. Hotel pickup and drop-off are not provided. Participants must weigh between 70 and 250 pounds, have a waist measurement between 22 and 48 inches, be at least 10 years old, and it is not recommended for those over 65.
