Overview

The tour lasts between four and seven hours, starting with an early morning pickup from hotels in Mexico City between 4:20 and 4:50 a.m., depending on weather and logistics. Participants travel by vehicle to the balloon launch area near Teotihuacan, arriving around 5:45 a.m. Upon arrival, coffee and cookies are served. The hot air balloon flight begins around 6:10 a.m. and lasts between 30 and 50 minutes, reaching heights up to 10,000 feet above the Teotihuacan archaeological zone. After landing, a traditional ceremony includes a toast with the pilot and the presentation of flight certificates. Around 8:00 a.m., the group moves to Restaurant La Cueva, located inside a natural cave, where breakfast is served. At 9:00 a.m., an expert-led workshop on obsidian and maguey starts, including tastings of locally made spirits. At approximately 9:40 a.m., participants have one and a half hours of free time to visit the Teotihuacan archaeological zone; entrance fees are not included. The tour ends with transportation back to Mexico City, arriving around 11:00 a.m., where participants are dropped off at their original pickup points. All times are approximate and subject to change due to weather or logistics. The balloon flight depends on weather conditions and may not fly directly over the pyramids, though most flights come close. The cave restaurant operates on specific hours, so some waiting may occur. Weight restrictions apply for the balloon flight, and the tour is not recommended for travelers with prostheses, missing limbs, or difficulty standing. Additional costs apply for passengers weighing over 100 kilograms. More than 150,000 travelers have taken this tour.
