Overview

The tour begins with pickup from Matsuya Ginza at 7:20 AM or LOVE Shinjuku at 7:50 AM, boarding an air-conditioned coach for a full-day trip lasting about 9 to 10 hours. The guide first drives past Akihabara and Ueno areas, then makes a stop at Meiji Shrine, a Shinto shrine built in 1920 surrounded by greenery, where travelers spend about 50 minutes walking the grounds. The route includes a drive through Harajuku, known for its youth culture, and past the Japanese parliament building, a symmetrical structure built in 1936. Next, the tour visits the Imperial Palace grounds, the current residence of the Imperial Family and site of Edo Castle. Guests have around 30 minutes to explore either the East Garden or the Niju-bashi Bridge in the Outer Garden, which feature traditional Japanese gardens and seasonal flowers. The bus then passes through Akihabara, the center of “Otaku” culture with shops for anime, games, and Maid cafes, followed by a drive-by of Ueno Park, Japan’s oldest park, known for its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, and the nearby Ameyoko market street. The tour also passes by a market known for Japanese kitchen goods and realistic food replicas. The group then arrives in Asakusa for a 30-minute authentic Uji Matcha tea experience featuring “Ichibancha” first flush tea from Uji, Kyoto, with options including matcha gelato or matcha beer. This is followed by a 40-minute lunch break featuring a karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and tofu set meal made daily with locally produced soybeans, accompanied by a soft drink, if selected. After lunch, guests spend about 45 minutes in Asakusa’s Nakamise shopping street taking photos at Kaminari-mon Gate. In the afternoon, visitors go to Tokyo Skytree, the tallest broadcasting tower in the world, for a skip-the-line admission to the Tembo Deck observatory at 350 meters. They have approximately 90 minutes to enjoy panoramic city views and browse over 300 shops in the adjacent Sora-machi mall. The tour continues with a 20-minute Tokyo Bay ferry ride passing under the Rainbow Bridge and viewing Tokyo’s skyline. On Tuesdays or during ferry suspension, the itinerary includes visits to the Fukagawa Edo Museum or Hamarikyu Gardens instead. The coach passes Tokyo Tower, which stands 333 meters tall and has been a Tokyo landmark for over 60 years, and Kabukicho, Tokyo’s main nightlife district. The route also includes a drive-by of the Tokyo 2021 Olympics venue, constructed using cedar from all 47 prefectures of Japan. The tour concludes with a drop-off at Shinjuku Station around 18:10. Throughout the day, guests have access to a professional English-speaking guide and multilingual audio guides in seven languages, plus onboard Wi-Fi. Lunch, matcha drink or gelato, and Skytree admission are included if selected. The Tokyo Bay ferry operates unless canceled due to high tide or maintenance, in which case alternative sites are visited.
