This two-hour activity takes place at the Samurai Museum in Tokyo. Participants begin by wearing a hakama, a traditional Japanese outfit, along with a samurai helmet. Afterward, they try on samurai armor and receive a hands-on lesson on how to use a samurai sword. The session includes posing with swords in front of several samurai-themed studio backdrops. Additionally, participants have the opportunity to handle ninja weapons. The experience is family friendly but does not allow children under six years old to enter the venue. Groups are limited to a maximum of 16 people. Transportation to and from the museum is not included.
Samurai Sword Experience
Participants change into traditional samurai clothing, including hakama pants and a kimono-style top, before entering the dojo as samurai trainees. A Samurai Master instructs on grip, posture, sword drawing, and the kata, which is a sequence of precise sword movements. Attendees strike a life-size samurai-shaped dummy with full-power cuts targeting the head, torso, and diagonals. The experience includes an English-guided tour of samurai and ninja exhibits explaining the artifacts. Participants also learn to throw ninja stars and may compete in a family challenge. The session ends with trying on soft samurai armor available for adults and children and taking photos with replica swords.
