This two-hour handmade Tuscan ceramics masterclass takes place in Montelupo, near Florence, at a family-run pottery business with a long tradition. The session begins in a local shop that has been open for twenty years, where participants receive all materials needed, including clay, aprons, and access to a pottery wheel. After a brief introduction, the instructor provides a private guided tour of the working pottery factory located just outside Montelupo. Transport to the factory is included and provided by car. At the factory, participants observe the entire ceramic-making process, from shaping the clay to hand glazing and double firing the finished pieces. During the class, participants create their own ceramic items, which are then glazed, fired, and shipped worldwide to their home. There is also an option to order custom-made ceramics from the factory, which can be added to the same shipment as the participant’s own work. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The location is easy to reach by train, with a 20-minute ride from Florence.
