Overview

Versailles is a royal palace in France known for its grand architecture and gardens. This full-day walking tour starts with a guided train ride from central Paris to Versailles. On arrival, the guide leads a two-hour visit through the palace’s main areas, including the royal apartments. Next, spend about 15 minutes in the Hall of Mirrors, learning about the lives of the French monarchy and court during Louis XIV’s reign. Then walk through the palace gardens for around one hour. Depending on the day, visitors see either the fountain shows with waterworks or the Musical Gardens where music plays among the groves. After a lunch break at nearby restaurants or sandwich bars (not included), the afternoon focuses on Marie Antoinette’s private estate. The tour includes a two-hour visit to the Petit Trianon, where you explore her English-style gardens, living quarters, and small private theater. The final stop is her Normandy-style hamlet, where she lived a simpler life surrounded by farm animals and gardens. The group uses the Petit Train to travel between Petit Trianon and the hamlet. The tour includes timed entry tickets and all reservations for the palace, gardens, and Petit Trianon. It lasts about eight and a half hours and involves significant walking, so comfortable shoes are advised. Gratuities, lunch, and hotel transfers are not included.
