Overview

This full-day guided tour lasts about eight hours and departs from Paris by air-conditioned minibus. The first stop is the town of Versailles, located roughly 25 miles southwest of Paris. Visitors skip the entrance lines at the Palace of Versailles using priority-access tickets. Inside, the guide leads a tour of the State Apartments, including the Hall of Mirrors and the Queen’s Apartments, explaining the history of the French monarchy. After about an hour inside the palace, guests explore the extensive French Baroque gardens on their own for two hours. The gardens feature fountains and the Orangery. There is a break for lunch near the Grand Canal, which is not included in the price, and guests may choose to picnic outdoors if weather permits. In the afternoon, the tour continues to the estate of Trianon. Visitors tour the Petit Trianon, known as Marie-Antoinette’s refuge, and then see the Queen’s Hamlet with its thatched cottages, lakes, streams, and a farmhouse. After finishing at Trianon, the group returns to Paris by minibus. Included are live commentary by a professional art historian guide, transport in a climate-controlled minibus, all fees and taxes, and skip-the-line tickets. Lunch and hotel pickup are not included.
