Overview

This half-day whitewater rafting trip follows the Naranjo River, which runs steeply from the coastal mountains above Quepos through a jungle gorge to sea level. The river offers Class III and IV rapids suited for experienced rafters or first-timers looking for strong waves and hydraulics. The route passes jungle-covered banks, 90-degree canyon walls, nearby farmlands, and palm plantations. The tour lasts about 4.5 hours, including transport by air-conditioned vehicle from hotels or houses in Manuel Antonio or Quepos. After pickup, guests arrive at the operator’s office to sign in and eat a meal (breakfast or lunch depending on the tour time). Then, the group drives to the river launch point where participants are fitted with life jackets, helmets, and paddles. Guides provide a safety briefing before rafting approximately 1.5 hours down the river. Included are bilingual guides, a safety kayak, lunch, snacks, helmets, and hotel pickup and drop-off for selected hotels. A photographer is present on the river; photos can be bought separately. After rafting, the group returns by van to the office, where the morning tour includes lunch.
