Overview

The Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland has been producing salt for over 700 years and is one of the oldest operational salt mines worldwide. This tour lasts about 4 to 5 hours and includes transportation from your hotel in Krakow to the mine and back. After a short walk from the drop-off point, an English-speaking official museum guide leads a 2.5-hour underground tour. The route extends more than 2.5 kilometers and reaches depths of up to 140 meters. Visitors explore chambers featuring salt carvings, statues, and a large collection of mining tools and machines, all made from salt. To enter the mine, guests descend 378 wooden steps to reach the first level, 64 meters underground. At the end of the tour, a lift takes visitors back to the surface. The tour includes skip-the-line tickets, so there is no need to wait in queues. Insurance is also included. Guests should wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes since the mine temperature is around 14 degrees Celsius (57 degrees Fahrenheit). Food and drinks are not provided, and gratuities are not included.
