Overview

This full-day tour starts with a pick-up in central Porto and lasts about nine hours. The first stop is in the town of Arouca for thirty minutes. Visitors can taste local sweets made from ancient monastery recipes and relax in the green area outside the monastery. After leaving Arouca, the group travels about twenty minutes to reach the 516 Arouca Suspension Bridge. Participants spend around one hour crossing this 175-meter-high suspension bridge, one of the longest in the world. The bridge has a transparent floor that offers views of the Paiva River below. Following the bridge crossing, the tour continues with a three to four hour walk along the Paiva Walkways. This wooden path runs eight kilometers beside the Paiva River and requires good physical fitness. Currently, half of the walkways are closed for maintenance, so the tour includes a guided visit to the local monastery and Sacred Art Museum at no extra cost. After the walk, the group travels fifteen minutes by mountain road to Alvarenga for lunch at a family-owned restaurant. The meal features Arouquesa DPO meat and local Vinho Verde wine. The return trip to Porto takes approximately ninety minutes. Tickets for the suspension bridge and walkways, snacks, and lunch are all included in the tour price.
