Overview

This small-group tour in Siem Reap lasts about eight to nine hours and visits several key temples in the Angkor complex, including Angkor Wat, Banteay Kdei, Ta Prohm, Ta Keo, Angkor Thom, and Phnom Bakheng. The tour begins with Angkor Wat, the largest religious monument in the world, where visitors spend about an hour exploring the extensive grounds that represent the height of the ancient Angkor civilization. Next, the group visits Banteay Kdei, known as the citadel of monk's cells, where large silk cotton tree roots intertwine with the ruins. After that, the tour continues to Ta Prohm, a temple partly reclaimed by jungle and recognized from the 2001 film Tomb Raider. Visitors then see Ta Keo, an unfinished temple with a square, layered-pyramid design, offering views over the surrounding jungle from its terraces. The tour proceeds to Angkor Thom, the former capital of the Angkor Empire. Participants enter through the South Gate, which features statues of gods and demons in a tug-of-war, and visit the Bayon temple at the center, noted for its many carved faces. The day concludes at Phnom Bakheng, a hilltop temple built before Angkor Wat, where guests watch the sunset overlooking Angkor Wat itself. The tour includes hotel pick-up and drop-off in an air-conditioned minivan, a driver and guide, and bottled water. Entrance tickets to Angkor Park are not included and must be purchased separately at the park. Food and drinks other than water are also not provided.
