Overview

This private half-day tour of Athens lasts about four to five hours and covers most of the city’s major sights by car. The vehicle is exclusively for the group, allowing the driver to adjust the route according to guest preferences. The tour begins at the Acropolis hill, where visitors walk among the Propylaea, Temple of Athena Nike, Parthenon, and Erechtheion. From there, panoramic views include the ancient theaters of Dionysos and Herodion. Next is a visit to the Olympeion area to see the Temple of Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch. Afterward, the group stops at the Panathenaic Stadium, site of the first modern Olympic Games in 1896, followed by the Presidential Mansion to watch the traditional Change of the Guard. The tour continues with a drive up Mount Lycabettus to St. George’s Chapel for a wide view of Athens, ideal for photography. The route also passes important historic buildings such as the National Library of Greece and the Academy of Athens. The Parliament Building and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are included with a short stop. The Ancient Agora is visited next, covering the Hellenic Agora (Areopagus) and Roman Agora. The final stop is Plaka, where visitors can explore narrow streets reflecting old Athens. There is time for shopping or enjoying a drink at a café. Included are onboard WiFi, bottled water, hotel or Piraeus port pickup and drop-off, an English-speaking driver (who does not enter archaeological sites), air conditioning, and local taxes. Entrance fees and food are not included, and the tour can be customized to suit guest interests.
