Overview

This 40-minute horse-drawn carriage tour takes place in downtown Charleston after dark. The tour begins and ends at the Old South Carriage Company stable, where guests can meet the draft horses, watch an educational video, buy bottled water, and use restrooms before boarding via an inclined ramp. A certified guide leads the ride through more than 15 blocks of Charleston's historic old walled city, sharing stories about reported hauntings. The route includes stops by the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon, the last colonial building in America and the city’s original dungeon; the Circular Congregational Church graveyard, the oldest in Charleston; and St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, the oldest church building. The carriage returns through the Old City Market area and along the waterfront before arriving back at the stable. The tour focuses on haunted alleys, graveyards, churches, hotels, and the dungeon, with spooky tales drawn from Charleston’s history throughout the ride. Gratuities are not included.
