Overview

Rome’s Colosseum stands as a major symbol of ancient Roman architecture and events. This private walking tour lasts about three hours and includes skip-the-line access to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and Roman Forum. A private guide with expertise in art history leads the group, providing personalized commentary tailored to your interests. The tour begins with a viewpoint at Colle Oppio overlooking the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Then the group descends to enter the Colosseum itself, where the guide explains the gladiator battles and other historical details while walking around the arena floor. Afterward, the group leaves the Colosseum and walks to Palatine Hill. On the way, there is a stop at the Arch of Constantine. On Palatine Hill, visitors see views of the Roman Forum and Nero’s Circus Maximus, a former site for chariot races. The final stop is the Roman Forum. The tour walks along Via Sacra, the main street that linked the Colosseum to Capitoline Hill and was used for Roman triumphs. The tour ends here, allowing participants to explore further on their own if desired. The private guide can adjust explanations depending on special interests such as architecture or culture if these are specified when booking.
