Overview

This full-day bus tour lasts about 10 and a half hours and runs from Auckland to Rotorua. The tour begins with hotel pickups starting at 7:15 am from selected inner-city hotels, followed by a meeting and boarding at Sky City Coach Terminal by 7:45 am. The coach departs Auckland at 8:00 am and travels to Waitomo Caves, arriving around 11:00 am. At Waitomo, participants take a 45-minute guided tour of the limestone caves, learning about the glow-worms that have inhabited the area for over 30 million years. The tour includes a small boat cruise through the glowworm grotto. After the Waitomo visit, the coach departs at 12:30 pm and heads to Matamata, arriving at the Hobbiton Movie Set at about 2:00 pm. There is a guided tour of the Hobbiton filming location, known for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. The coach leaves Hobbiton at 5:00 pm and reaches Rotorua at approximately 6:15 pm, with hotel drop-offs starting at 6:20 pm for selected inner-city hotels. Onboard amenities include free Wi-Fi and a picnic lunch is provided during the day.
