Overview

This full-day bus tour begins at Hyur Service, the meeting point for departure and return. The first stop is Tsaghkadzor, a mountain resort known as the Valley of Flowers, located 60 km north of Yerevan on the eastern slope of Teghenis Mountain. Visitors ride the ropeway for about 30 minutes, getting views of alpine meadows and surrounding woods. Next, the group visits Kecharis Monastery in the northwestern part of Tsaghkadzor. Built between the 11th and 13th centuries, the complex includes four churches and the half-ruined mausoleum of Grigorius Pahlavuni, the monastery's patron. The tour continues to Lake Sevan, a large freshwater lake at about 1900 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains over 3000 meters high. The group visits Sevanavank Monastery, situated on a peninsula at the lake’s northwest side. Constructed in 874 by princess Mariam, daughter of King Ashot Bagratuni, the two churches offer views of the lake’s clear waters and sky. Visitors should be prepared to climb 200 steps to reach the monastery. After exploring the peninsula, there is time for rest and swimming at the lake shore during summer. The tour concludes with a trout barbecue meal featuring fish from Lake Sevan. The guide provides explanations in English and Russian consecutively throughout the 7-8 hour tour. Included are air-conditioned transport, insurance, admission tickets including the ropeway ride, WiFi onboard, bottled water, and pastries. Hotel pickup and lunch cost are not included.
