This four-hour tour in Hoi An is available in the morning from 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. or in the afternoon from 1:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. It begins with pickup by an English-speaking guide. The first stop is a local market where participants walk with a master chef to learn about Vietnamese ingredients and how to select them. Next, the group travels to the coconut water village. There, participants paddle a traditional bamboo basket boat through the canals and catch purple crabs by hand in the water. After the basket boat and crabfishing activity, the group joins a hands-on cooking class at the coconut house led by Chef Tâm, who has many years of experience in Vietnamese cuisine. Participants prepare four dishes using local ingredients. After cooking, the group sits down to eat the meal they have made. A recipe sheet is provided to help recreate the dishes at home. The tour includes bottled water, transportation, the basket boat and crab-catching activity, the cooking class, and lunch. Vegetarian and other dietary needs can be accommodated upon request.
