Overview

The tour begins with hotel pickup in Hoi An city and a visit to a local market where the guide explains how to interact with sellers and identifies ingredients used in the upcoming cooking class. Next, the group travels to Phu Lanh Travel for a welcome drink before heading to Cam Thanh coconut palm village. There, the guide provides an overview of the village and the daily life of the local fishing community. At Bay Mau Coconut Forest, participants take a 45-minute basket boat ride through the river channels surrounding Cam Thanh. During this time, locals perform coracle boat demonstrations. After the boat ride, a local fisherman instructs the group on making souvenirs from palm leaves, boat shaking techniques, and crab-catching. Returning to Phu Lanh Travel, guests have time to refresh before attending a lantern-making workshop. The guide introduces the history, shapes, colors, and production stages of lanterns, after which each participant creates their own lantern to keep. The final activity is a cooking class led by a local host, where participants prepare several Vietnamese dishes including Hoi An deep-fried spring rolls, rice pancakes, papaya salad with chicken, and the regional specialty, Cau Lau noodles. The meal prepared during the class is then enjoyed before returning to the hotel. The entire experience lasts about four and a half hours and includes all entrance fees, mineral water, lantern making, a coracle boat ride, an English-speaking guide, and hotel pickup and drop-off within Hoi An city.
