Ponte 25 de Abril
This suspension bridge connects Lisbon with the Almada district on the south side of the Tagus River. Built in 1966 by the American Bridge Company, it was originally named Ponte Salazar but renamed Ponte 25 de Abril in 1974 to mark the Carnation Revolution.
Santuario Nacional de Cristo Rei
This Catholic monument in Almada overlooks Lisbon across the River Tejo. Inspired by Rio’s Christ the Redeemer statue, the Cristo Rei statue is 110 metres tall, about 360 feet and 11 inches, and was completed in 1959.
Torre de Belem
Located on the waterfront in Belém near the Tagus River’s mouth, this tower was originally designed as a lighthouse but was built as a defensive fortress commissioned by King Manuel I. It is a key symbol of Lisbon.
Padrao Dos Descobrimentos
