The Northern Lights Minibus Chase with Photography from Tromsø begins with a pickup from a central location in Tromsø city center. Participants travel by a comfortable, fully equipped minibus designed for Arctic conditions. The group drives to areas with clear skies and calm surroundings to increase the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. The journey usually involves a short drive to coastal islands near Tromsø, but if necessary, the minibus may travel a longer distance into Finland. The total duration of the tour is between six and nine hours, depending on weather and Aurora activity. Upon arrival at a suitable location, the group sets up camp for the evening to watch and photograph the Northern Lights. Thermal suits and heated insoles for participants’ own boots are provided to keep warm. Hot drinks such as tea, coffee, and hot chocolate are served along with cookies and locally made expedition food. A campfire is lit to provide additional warmth during the viewing. Participants receive instructions on how to photograph the Aurora Borealis and have access to tripods (not compatible with mobile phones) and headlamps. Professional photos taken during the tour are shared online in web resolution after the trip. At the end of the tour, participants are dropped off at their hotels or accommodations on Tromsø Island. Children must be at least eight years old and over 120 cm to join, and inquiries are required for child booster seats.
