Overview

This walking tour in Cairo lasts about 2 to 3 hours and includes visits to several historic sites in Old Cairo. A licensed guide leads the group through one of the three remaining gates of Old Cairo before walking along Al Moez Street. This street functions as an open-air museum with many Islamic monuments from different periods, where the guide explains the history and allows time for photos. After around 20 minutes on Al Moez Street, the tour reaches Khan El Khalili Market. This bustling bazaar has many shops selling traditional Egyptian goods. Visitors can shop at trusted stores recommended by the guide. There is also an optional stop at a traditional café such as Al Feshawy or Om Kalthoum, where drinks can be purchased. The tour also stops at Al Azhar Mosque, a significant Islamic landmark built in 970 AD, known for its mix of Fatimid, Mamluk, and Ottoman architectural styles and its role as a center for Islamic scholarship. The tour includes private hotel pickup and drop-off, a shopping tour, a bottle of water, sugar cane juice, and the guidance of a licensed tour guide. Drinks beyond sugar cane juice are not included. This tour combines historical sites, market shopping, and street life, ending with transport back to the hotel.
