Overview

Rome's Colosseum stands as the largest amphitheater built in ancient times, serving as the main site on this guided walking tour. The tour lasts about 2 hours and 45 minutes and begins with entry to the Colosseum, where the guide provides live commentary while visitors explore the first-floor areas and learn about its history, architecture, and the gladiatorial games held there. After the Colosseum, the group walks to Palatine Hill to see the ruins of imperial palaces and the remains of the earliest Roman settlements. The guide explains the hill's strategic location and its significance as the site chosen by Romulus for founding Rome. The tour continues downhill to the Roman Forum, the political and social center of ancient Rome. Visitors hear about the important temples, basilicas, and government buildings that once stood there. The guide narrates the role of the forum in Roman political life and how it shaped Roman society.
