Overview

This 2.5-hour rafting tour on the Kaituna River near Rotorua offers about one hour of white water rafting on a Grade 5 river section. Participants receive a full safety briefing before boarding the raft to navigate through a canyon lined with native New Zealand plants. The route begins with gentle rapids and progresses to more challenging waters, passing under several waterfalls including the 7-metre Tutea Falls, the highest waterfall commercially rafted in the world. Rafters can swim in some rapids if conditions allow. After rafting, the tour includes access to a free sauna and a hot shower. Professional photos taken during the trip are available for viewing on a big screen. All necessary equipment such as wetsuit, helmet, booties, buoyancy aid, and paddle are provided. Hotel pickup and drop-off can be arranged on request for the 9am, 12pm, and 3pm tours.

Rotorua Rafting

This is a 2-hour white water rafting trip on the Kaituna River from Rotorua. It begins with a full safety briefing covering procedures and tips. Rafters float down a deep canyon lined with native New Zealand flora and subtropical forest. The river starts with easy rapids and increases in difficulty, passing under several waterfalls. The trip includes rafting over three waterfalls, including the 23-foot (7-metre) Tutea Falls, which is the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. The water is warm in summer. After rafting, participants can shower and view professional photos on a screen.

Rotorua Rafting will use skill to ensure safety but is not responsible for loss, injury, or damage when reasonable care could not prevent it. Participants must follow guide instructions and use safety equipment as directed. Those responsible for persons under 18 must ensure those persons comply with guide instructions. Rotorua Rafting may cancel, modify, or curtail trips or withdraw any person deemed likely to endanger themselves or others, including due to alcohol or drug use. Participants accept all risks including personal injury, death, property damage, or loss, and acknowledge Rotorua Rafting is not liable for property loss, travel disruption, or mental injury, subject to rights under the Health and Safety at Work (Adventure Activities) Regulations 2017 or other New Zealand law. By accepting the disclosure, participants confirm they are of Age of Majority and agree the agreement binds their heirs and successors; if under 18, a parent or guardian must accept the disclosure.
