Overview

This full-day bus tour covers four key historical sites in the Sacred Valley near Cusco, highlighting the Inca civilization’s agricultural and architectural achievements. The tour begins with pickup from hotels in Cusco city center early in the morning between 6:30 and 7:00 am. The guide will explain the itinerary during the drive. The first major stop is Pisac, where visitors spend about two hours exploring the Inca terraces and an ancient cemetery. There is also time to visit the Pisac Market for local handicraft shopping. Afterward, the tour continues to Moray, known for its three circular terraces that served as an agricultural laboratory for the Incas. About two hours are allotted here to explore the site. Next is the nearby Maras Salt Mines, a colonial-era salt production site with over 3,000 natural salt pools carved into the mountainside. Visitors spend around 75 minutes viewing the pools and learning about the salt extraction process. Lunch is served in Urubamba at a local restaurant, including a buffet of Andean food. After lunch, the tour proceeds along the Urubamba River to Ollantaytambo. The guide leads a two-hour visit to the archaeological park, featuring Inca stone constructions and an impressive rock formation linked to the Inca deity Wiracocha. The irrigation system here still functions and water flows through stone canals beside the streets. The tour ends either at Ollantaytambo around 4:30 pm or returns to Cusco by approximately 6:00 pm, depending on traffic. The tour includes private transport, an English and Spanish-speaking professional guide, hotel pickup, and lunch. Entrance fees to the Cusco Tourist Ticket and Maras Salt Mines are not included, nor are drinks or tips. Group size ranges from two to eight participants.
