This four-hour walking tour takes you to remote beaches north of Playa Grande near Tamarindo, where Olive Ridley and Green Pacific sea turtles come to nest. Starting just after sunset, the guide meets you at the Native’s Way office and leads you to a protected beach about 30 minutes away. You will watch the turtles as they arrive, dig nests, and lay eggs. Occasionally, you may also see baby turtles hatching and moving toward the ocean. Because the turtles are sensitive to bright light, flashlights and camera flashes are not allowed. The guide provides a red light that does not disturb the animals. Turtles can be seen throughout the year, with the peak nesting season from November to April. Pickup for private tours is offered from several nearby beaches and hotels including Pinilla, JW Marriott, Tamarindo, Langosta, Conchal, Flamingo, and Grande. Shared tours include pickup and drop-off from the Native’s Way office only. Bottled water is provided during the tour.
