Next, the vehicle travels to Kawarau Gorge, the site of the Pillars of the Kings (Argonath) filming. The journey continues along a historic gold mining road beside the Arrow River, crossing the river multiple times before reaching the Ford of Bruinen. At this stop, guests have the chance to try gold panning while enjoying morning or afternoon tea. The tour concludes with a drive to Skippers Canyon entrance, where panoramic views of the Wakatipu Basin and the canyon itself are available. The entire tour lasts about four hours and includes transport by 4WD with a driver/guide, selected hotel pickup and drop-off in Queenstown, and gold panning. Lunch is not included. The tour operates in all weather, so appropriate clothing is advised.
