Overview

Castle Valley in Moab is a wide red-rock canyon that the Colorado River flows through. This half-day rafting trip takes about 4 and a half hours, mostly drifting along the river with occasional Class II rapids to add some excitement. The water temperature is generally warm from late spring through early fall. The tour is conducted on boats and includes a safety orientation before the trip begins. Participants receive free splash jackets and helmets if they want them. The guides have extensive experience, averaging 2,000 river miles each, and share stories and information about the river and surrounding landscape. The trip includes all river and land access fees and provides a round-trip shuttle from the main Moab office. Parking is available free of charge. All equipment used is well maintained. Gratuities are not included. There are no scheduled stops along the route, as the focus is on floating through this scenic section of the Colorado River.

Meet us at our Moab office! After you're checked in and fitted for a life jacket, we'll take a scenic shuttle out to the most dramatic section of Castle Valley along the Colorado River. After a quick safety orientation we'll hit the river, spending 2 hours on the water floating into the beautiful red rock canyon of Castle Valley. In between the friendly class II rapid sections, your guide will share stories about the area's rich history, how these geologic wonders formed, and probably some river lore and good old fashioned dad jokes. The afternoon section comes with more rapids between the flat water stretches, so feel free to paddle with your guide, or sit back and enjoy the splashes. After two hours on this serene stretch of the Colorado River, we'll take out and shuttle back to our office.
