As darkness falls, participants may see a variety of nocturnal wildlife including frogs like the hourglass, Blue Jeans, and red-eyed frog, along with insects, reptiles, and snakes such as coral and velvet. The guide may also point out mammals like sloths, possums, anteaters, coatis, armadillos, howler and spider monkeys. Walks vary each night because animals live freely in this natural environment. The tour includes a flashlight, entrance to the El Silencio Viewpoint Trails, an English or Spanish-speaking guide, and shared transportation. Closed shoes are required for safety. Dinner and bottled water are not included.
Mirador El Silencio
Starting at 5:30 p.m., this guided walk explores a forest near Arenal Volcano known for its volcanic history and unique climate. As night sets in, the trail offers chances to see amphibians like crystal, tree, and rain frogs, and various toads. Snakes such as coral, muzzle, stone hand, and velvet may appear. Mammals including coatis, armadillos, possums, howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, and spider monkeys can also be observed. The walk lasts about two hours and focuses on the local flora and nocturnal wildlife.
