Overview

This wine tour departs from Queenstown and lasts about five hours, visiting three wineries in Central Otago’s Gibbston Valley. Guests travel in a luxury Mercedes Sprinter with air conditioning and live commentary from a local guide. The first stop is Gibbston Valley Wines, where there is a guided 30-minute tour inside New Zealand’s largest wine cave followed by a wine tasting. Next, the tour visits Kinross, where guests taste wines from Kinross and their partners Valli, Hawkshead, Wild Irishman, and High Garden. There is about 45 minutes available for guests to have a seasonal lunch at Kinross’s bistro or wine garden; lunch is not included. The final stop is Amisfield Winery, a single-estate organic vineyard known for its stone architecture and views over Lake Hayes and the surrounding mountains. Guests sample wines at Amisfield, which has been awarded RIEDEL Vineyard of the Year 2024 and is listed among the World’s 100 Best Restaurants. The tour is limited to 10 adults and includes all wine tastings, the cave tour, air-conditioned transport, and local guide commentary. Lunch and gratuities are not included. Bella the wine dog may join the group during the tour.

The wine tour starts with a drive through Central Otago’s Gibbston Valley, guided by a local expert. The first visit is to Gibbston Valley Wines, where guests take a guided tour and tasting, including exclusive entry to New Zealand’s largest wine cave. The tour includes visits to three selected boutique wineries and offers over 13 premium tastings throughout the day.

At Gibbston Valley Winery, guests join a 30-minute guided tour inside New Zealand’s largest wine cave. This historic winery, one of the region’s founders, focuses on crafting premium wines and preserving traditions since releasing Central Otago's first commercial vintage in 1987.

The cellar door and restaurant are part of a single-estate organic vineyard producing refined wines. Visitors can taste elegant Pinot Noir and aromatic whites in a setting combining nature, design, and craftsmanship. Amisfield was named one of the World’s 100 Best Restaurants and awarded RIEDEL Vineyard of the Year 2024.
