You wake up to one of the most impressive sunrises of the trek, as the sun illuminates Apu Salkantay against a blue sky. After an energizing breakfast, you prepare for the most challenging and rewarding section of the Salkantay Trek.

The trail ascends through Salkantaypampa and Soyrococha, between sparkling glaciers, until it reaches Abra Salkantay (4,630 m / 15,190 ft), the highest point of the trek. From the summit, the high mountain views are breathtaking and impressive.

You begin the descent to Huayracmachay (3,850 m / 12,631 ft), where a comforting lunch prepared by our team awaits you. In the afternoon, you will continue to Collpapampa, noticing the transition from the Andean landscape to the cloud forest, full of orchids, ferns, and exotic birds.

End the day with a delicious dinner and rest in our Mountain Sky View cabins, surrounded by nature.

After breakfast overlooking the forest, begin your hike through the Santa Teresa Valley, surrounded by orchids, ferns, and coffee and banana plantations, until you reach Granadilla, where our transport will be waiting to take you to La Playa.

Once in La Playa, we will visit a coffee farm to learn about the process of growing and harvesting Andean coffee, a tradition that drives the regional economy and delights with its unique aroma. After this enriching experience, we will enjoy a delicious lunch and continue our journey to Lucmabamba (2,000 meters above sea level / 6,562 feet), where our exclusive Sacred Jungle Lodge camp is located in the middle of the rainforest.

Afterwards, we will return to Lucmabamba for dinner and spend the night at our camp, a comfortable and harmonious space surrounded by nature.

After about two hours of climbing through Santa Teresa, you will arrive at the archaeological site of Llactapata (2,700 m / 8,858 ft), where you will enjoy breathtaking views of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu while learning about Inca history.

Then, you will descend for an hour and a half to Ahobamba, where you will have lunch before continuing on to Hidroeléctrica (1,800 m / 5,906 ft). On this stretch, you will see a 250 m artificial waterfall.

From Hidroeléctrica, you can choose to take the train to Aguas Calientes (not included) or walk for about three hours along the railroad tracks enjoying the jungle surroundings. In the village, dinner at a local restaurant and a rest in a comfortable hotel await you. Note: During the rainy season, the Llactapata trail may be closed for safety reasons.

Today is the big day! After an early breakfast, you will board one of the first buses to Machu Picchu. You will arrive at the citadel just in time to enjoy the magic of sunrise and avoid the crowds.

During a guided tour of approximately two hours, you will explore the most important areas of the site: temples, houses, agricultural terraces, and ceremonial centers. Your guide will explain the advanced Inca engineering and the secrets of this marvel. After the tour, you will have free time to continue exploring or climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional).

Later, you will return to Aguas Calientes for lunch and take the train back to Ollantaytambo
