Overview

This award-winning small-group tour in Banff lasts about three hours and includes visits to several notable viewpoints and wildlife viewing opportunities. The tour begins with hotel pickup in Banff or pickup and drop-off at Banff Train Station. Transportation is provided in a modern, spacious vehicle with large panoramic windows designed for wildlife observation. The group size is limited to a maximum of 12 guests. The expert local guide adjusts the route daily based on recent wildlife sightings, weather conditions, and to avoid large bus tours. The tour includes a 15-minute stop at Mount Norquay, where guests can see the town of Banff and surrounding mountains from a well-known viewpoint. Next, the tour travels to Lake Minnewanka and Two Jack Lake for about 30 minutes, with chances to see bears, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, coyotes, foxes, and other local wildlife. Guests take a 20-minute walk on the Hoodoos Trail to view the distinctive rock formations and the Canadian Rockies across the Bow Valley. The tour also stops for 15 minutes at Surprise Corner to look through alpine forests toward Tunnel Mountain and a famous hotel that resembles a castle. Another 15-minute stop is made at Bow Falls, a waterfall featured in the 1953 film "River of No Return." During winter tours, hot chocolate, tea, or coffee is provided at a viewpoint. Water refills are included, but guests should bring their own water bottles. The guide shares information about Banff’s indigenous and European history as well as facts about local wildlife species such as bears, elk, bighorn sheep, moose, lynx, cougars, coyotes, foxes, and deer. Park passes and gratuities are not included. Guests interested in adding the Banff Gondola can contact the operator before booking. Children under eight years old are not permitted on this tour.
