Overview

This ticket grants access to the Banff Sunshine Village gondola and the Mount Standish Chairlift for sightseeing in Banff National Park. The ride begins with a 22-minute gondola ascent in an 8-passenger cabin, offering 360-degree views of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Upon reaching the village, visitors can take the Mount Standish Chairlift to the Standish Viewpoint Platform, located at 7,875 feet (2,400 meters), the highest sightseeing elevation in the Banff and Lake Louise area. At the Standish viewpoint, guests can walk along paths to see three high-alpine lakes: Larynx, Grizzly, and Rock Isle. From there, it is possible to connect to hiking trails in Sunshine Meadows. The area is about a 15-minute drive from Banff town and features a gift shop and café near the gondola base. Free shuttle service operates between Banff and the gondola base with six daily pick-up and return trips starting at 7:00 am. The last shuttle leaves the gondola base at 5:45 pm. The tour duration ranges from one to four hours depending on how much time is spent exploring the village and viewpoint. Food and drinks at Mad Trapper's Grill & BBQ are available but not included in the ticket price.

Sunshine Meadows

Sunshine Village is located on the Continental Divide in Banff National Park, about a 15 minute drive from Banff town. It includes three large mountains with natural views free from signs of civilization. Visitors can use the gift shop and cafe before boarding a 22-minute gondola ride through the Rocky Mountains to the village. Guests may ride the Mount Standish Chairlift, which reaches an elevation of 2,400 m (7,875 ft), the highest sightseeing point in the Banff and Lake Louise area. The Standish viewpoint offers 360-degree views of the surrounding mountains. Nearby hiking trails lead to three high-alpine lakes named Larynx, Grizzly, and Rock Isle. Free shuttle buses run between Banff and the Sunshine Village Gondola base area with 6 daily pick-ups starting at 7:00am and 6 daily returns, the last departing at 5:45pm. Food and drinks are available at Mad Trapper's Grill & BBQ, but these are not included.

Gondola Ride and Standish Viewpoint

The gondola ride lasts 22 minutes and ascends through the Rocky Mountains to Sunshine Village. Visitors may proceed at their own pace, choosing either to take the Mount Standish Chairlift or hike up the mountain to the viewpoint. Visitors are advised to allow enough time for the gondola ride and sightseeing at the Standish Viewing Deck. It is recommended to arrive at the village no later than 15:30. The gondola cabins hold 8 passengers.
