Overview

This 80-minute guided virtual reality tour of Hiroshima Peace Park begins at the Rest House of Hiroshima Peace Park. The English-speaking guide welcomes participants and explains how to use the VR goggles. Visitors then go to the basement to experience the story of Eizo Nomura, the only survivor of the fuel building, now the Rest House. Wearing VR headsets, participants move to the Peace Clock Tower area, where they see scenes of the city before and after the atomic bombing, including how the Atomic Bomb Dome was damaged and preserved. The tour continues to Aioi Bridge, where VR presents the city about two months after the bombing, showing survivor testimonies and early reconstruction efforts. Next, the group visits the Atomic Bomb Dome itself, the only building that still shows visible damage from the blast and a World Heritage site since 1996. At Motoyasu Bridge, participants view the city’s recovery from the first year after the bombing to the present day, with information about peace promotion and prevention of future tragedies. The tour concludes back at the Rest House, where guests can share their reflections by posting comments on the “river of hope” wall dedicated to peace. The tour includes VR goggles rental and an English-speaking guide. Transportation to the meeting point and food or drinks are not included.
