The Lares Valley Trek offers a slower-paced route through traditional alpine villages outside Cusco, focusing on local culture and daily life. This four-day hiking tour includes about three nights of accommodation - two nights camping and one night in a hotel. The trek covers local villages in the Lares Valley before descending into the Sacred Valley, where travelers visit the salt mines and Ollantaytambo, an Inca village over 3,500 years old. From Ollantaytambo, participants take a round-trip Expedition tourist class train to Machupicchu town. On the following day, the tour includes a guided visit to the Machu Picchu archaeological site with a certified local indigenous guide. This visit is enhanced by the background knowledge gained during the Sacred Valley segment. The tour includes all transportation, entrance fees for the Lares Valley trek and Machu Picchu, meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), drinkable water along the trek, and support from professional chefs, porters, and English-speaking trekking guides.
